Trini Patois Words

Okay, here is my list of Trini Patois Words that I have been able to find thus far.  If you know of any Trini Patois Words and they are not listed here, please feel free to contact me.  I will be happy to list them here.  It has been real fun as well as interesting finding and learning the meaning of these words.  Many of them I heard my mother say and did not know what they really mean.

Yampee Nastyness found in the corner of the eye after a long night's sleep.
Bamsee The rear end what you sit on
Obsokee Awkward in appearance, anything bent or twisted out of shape
Toutoulbay (Too-tool-bay) A confused state in a daze, also head over heels in love. A gullible person.
Coskel or Cosquelle Overdressed
Picong From the french word 'piquant' meaning cutting or stinging; it means making jokes of someone in front of his/her face.
Macomere My childs' godmother
Maco A person who minds other people's business for the purpose of gossip.
Lambase To verbally or physically attack someone
Fig Banana
Mamaguy To put someone on, to make fun of
Bacchanal Scandal, heavy quarreling, big party, confusion
Maga Thin, very skinny
Planasse To hit someone continuously with the flat part of a cutlass
Boof/Buff To Scold
Doux Doux Sweetie, Sweetheart
Cunumunu A folish person
Toute bagai Everything
Mamapoule hen-pecked husband; a derogatory term for a husband who seems to be controlled by his wife.
Peong Someone who seems to be addicted to or obsessed with something, e.g. "You're a TV peong," meaning someone who watches too much television.
Sampat An unfair attack, ambush
Lavway 'the voice' or 'the truth'. In origin it was the call and response chants of the stickfight. Its rhythmn was assimilated into calypso.
Viey la cou

Viey la cou is French Patois for old courtyard, so called either because it was the area for rehearsal of the characters in Traditional mas.

Mal Yeux Bad Eye - Evil eye (spell) cast by someone to cause illness or discomfort or bad luck.  Can be countered or warded off by wearing jumbie beads.
Malkadee To act stupid as if catching fits.
Mou Mou A person who is not too intelligent.
Chadon Bene Shadow Bennie or Shado Bene is derived from the French term Chadon Bene which means "Blessed Herb".
Sans Humanité (santimanitay) Without mercy
Patois rough speech
"Tou lé jou, nou ka twavay rèd". everyday we working hard
