Breads and Bakes
Sweet Bread
This is my lovely daughter. She is presently in
Trinidad persuing her studies. My son is also presently in Trinidad on
vacation (where we were born) and my mother is cooking all the things
that he likes to eat.
Sweet Bread is one of the dishes that she did and
I had my daughter make a list of the ingredients and take pictures. She
did a superb job!!! Thanks guys and I love you!!!!
Ingredients
2 pounds of flour
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 leveled tsp baking powder
1 full tbsp lard
1 full tbsp butter
1 tsp yeast
1 cup grated coconut
1 cup raisins
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp water
Method
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Using water, combine
ingredients into a dough or ball, and knead for about 5 minutes. The
dough should be a little stiff if it is too soft add some more flour.
Place dough into a bowl and cover with a towel
and let raise for 15 minutes, then knead again until dough is smooth if
it is not cover to raise again and then knead. Divide dough into two
and shape into a bread form, and place into greased bread pans. Cover
filled pans with a towel and leave to rise for about 15-20 minutes.
Pre-heat oven for about 350 degrees. Mix brown
sugar and water to form a syrup glaze. When dough is risen, place in
oven and let cook until golden brown. While the sweet bread is still
hot, paste syrup glaze over the bread and let cool.
Check out this article I wrote on the raw
