Storing your limes year round

by Ranie
(Chaguanas, Trinidad)

In Trinidad limes are seasonal and in some cases when they are available we pay up to $2.00 for one lime. In an effort to ensure that I have limes year round I would purchase them when they are in abundance and cheap.

The following are the steps to ensuring that you have limes year round:

(1) Wash them
(2) Place in Zip lock bags and store in freezer
(3) Whenever you need to use a lime or two take it out of
the freezer and place in a cup of water to thaw.
(4) Before cutting the lime roll it properly to ensure that
you get lots of juice.
(5) Another tip is that if you are in a hurry and cannot wait
for it to thaw, then place it in the microwave for a few
seconds or until it is soft.

Awesome tip

Wow this is a really great tip. Most times when I purchase my limes, they have time to spoil before I can use them all. You can bet I will be using this tip very often. Thanks for posting Ranie!!!
