My SBI Experience

Website Translation

It now time for me to write about my experience with SBI. I will tell you what ignited my desire to write this article, Favicon.

What is a Favicon? A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Browsers that support a tabbed document interface typically show a page's favicon next to the page's title on the tab.

You see last night, 27th October 2009, I made an attempt to add one to my website and it was so easy. All I had to do was upload my image and SBI did the rest! I was amazed how easy it was. I used this site to change my image to an ico file. You see I also added favicons to my three blogs and it took a bit of sweat and site hopping to get it right. The instructions required inserting some html code into the template. At one point I was a bit frustrated because it worked on one blog but not on the other two.

These are my blogs:

Until one day (24th October 2009) I was working on my friend’s computer and realized that they were all working! I was so happy that morning that I did a post on my blogs about my happiness. I realized that I needed to upgrade the browser on my computer.

SBI is always analyzing the internet market to find all the latest features that are pulling in large amounts of traffic and then incorporating these features for SBIers. They recently installed the blogging feature. When I first set up the blog for my site, I just followed the instructions and left it. Then one day I was checking my Traffic Statistics and I realized that a particular page was getting the most views. The page name was quite strange until I started to investigate. Eventually I realized that it was the blog part of my website!!!! Could you image I was going to deactivate this feature because to be truthful, I don’t like the layout but now that I know that it is working so wonderful, I did not delete it.

I am a member of Blog Catalog and I was a bit disturbed that I was not able to include my website to Blog Catalog, UNTIL, I set up the blog feature. I am so happy about this. So visitors to my blog can also view my website via my blog. Cool!

When SBI stated that all you have to do is to write your content, they really mean it. All I did was set up the blog, and forgot about it. Now it is pulling in the majority of traffic!

On 27th October 2009 I was reading the SBI's latest newsletter and learned that a new (or so I thought) feature was complete – Content 2.0. I don’t fully understand it yet but I followed the instructions and had my Invitations set up. It is really a Invite page to your visitors to add their content to your site. It was designed in such a way that when the content in being added, it will be an extra page to your website so I would not have to then go and create a new page for each submission. Quite ingenious! The author can edit their submission and also add pictures. I will still have control because I will have to review each submission before publishing them. I am positive without any effort, I will have submissions to my site.

As of 28th October 2009, I have 102 pages, I have achieved my goal before the targeted time. My goal was to have 100 pages by the end of 2009. Now I have to create a new goal. Lets see …..maybe I should aim for 250 pages by October 2010. That seems feasible enough.

Presently SBI is working on creating templates with three columns, I can’t wait for this new feature. I really like the look of three column websites.

CONCLUSION
I want to make this absolutely clear, success with SBI entails a lot of effort on your part that is why emphasis is that the content for your site is about a topic that you are passionate about. So as you are building your content, you will be enjoying your journey. Leave the rest to SBI.

Now lets talk about income, as of 28th October,2009, I have earned $17.18 with Google Adsense! I am proud of my earnings and when I get my first cheque I would most definately be doing a post on my blogs about it!!!

This is a not a get rich scheme. My dream is to be able to make an income equal to what I am making with my present job, with Adsense. At that point, I will quit my job!!

Much success to you!!

TESTIMONIALS

"My goal was to build an online business that would generate an income equal (or greater, of course) to the salary I was earning. And also wouldn't be dependant on any country's economy (as my country's economy is in shambles...)."

"SBI! will teach you things to help you build your business. Yes, you will learn to use technical, web-oriented, site building tools, but the most interesting things that SBI! will teach you are more complex than these tools. SBI! will make you aware of the power you have inside yourself to create something that really works because YOU are the "added value" to the process."

"Frankly, I don't know much about online systems and technology but I do know about Audio, Video and Home Theater, and the SiteBuildIt! system let me focus on what I know best -- my business. I have been able to create a professional web site that gets significant traffic that provides us with qualified leads that convert into Axiom Audio sales which have an average value of over $800 per sale."
