Pasta and Ground Meat
Normally, pasta or spagetti is cooked separately from the ground meat (mince meat) which is mostly cooked in tomato sauce. One evening I
came home very hungry and I wanted to prepare a meal that was easy so I came up with this method.
Ingredients
1/2 pack of spagetti
Ground meat aka mince meat
1 diced onion
1 thinly sliced carrot or you can use baby carrots
small leaf thyme
3 grated garlic cloves
1 teaspoon of pepper sauce
1 tablespoon of tomato ketchup
Method
When I first started using this method to prepare this dish, I used my favorite frying iron pot but I had a little problem mixing the spagetti
with the ground meat. So I would suggest that you use a deeper pot.
Put the pot on the stove to hot and add one tablespoon of olive oil. Add the diced onion and garlic and allow the vegetables to saute for about
3 minutes. Add the minced meat (you can use minced chicken or turkey), pepper sauce, ketchup, carrot and salt. Mix everything together and
allow the meat and vegetables to cook.
When the meat is all cooked, break the spagetti in half (or smaller if desired) and place them in to the pot. Add about 1 cup of water
and allow the pasta to cook. As the pasta begin to soften and become more flexible, mix in with the mince meat mixture. Low down the stove,
cover the pot and allow the sauce to simmer and the pasta to cook thoroughly.
The pictures I took of this dish did not come out too well so I decided to use this other picture where I used elbow macaroni instead of
the spagetti and I used a can of peas and carrots instead of the fresh carrots.
