Easy Bechamel Sauce

Easy Bechamel Sauce is sometimes not so easy for some...but I've learned a no fail technique that can turn this puzzle into a no fail becahmel sauce every time.

Ingredients

1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1 cup milk
salt and pepper to taste

Heat a sauce pan over medium high heat add butter and once it is melted throw in the flour and wisk until it is all mixed together. Add the milk all at once and wisk rapidly to ensure no clumps and so it doesn't stick. Thickening should take no more than a couple of minutes. Add salt and pepper.

I use this bechamel sauce as a base for so many other recipes. I've added garlic, salt, pepper, parmesan, romano, fresh herbs etc.

Essentially I use this as a low fat alternative to a cream sauce.

Works every time.

Tip: For larger batches, increase butter and flour and milk equally. Keeps it simple to make.

Tip 2: Also for a less thick sauce, adjust milk to your hearts desire...less for a thicker bechamel, more for a more liquid mixture.

Enjoy.
