BONZA BAY BEACH by Teresa Schultz of 1pic4twenty
One drives through the suburbs of Beacon Bay and Bonza Bay in East London, South Africa to get to Bonza Bay Beach. Bonza Bay beach has a little blind river that only flows into the ocean when it rains quite heavily. This blind river is shallow near the main beach area and makes a lovely safe place for toddlers and small children to play, while their parents can keep a watchful eye from nearby.
There is one particularly large sand dune that is fun to climb up - and take a big rest at the top - and sit there and look at the Indian Ocean. Bonza Bay is a beautiful beach for walking dogs early in the morning while enjoying majestic sunrises.
I took this photo at Bonza Bay beach quite early in the morning, into the sun, one of my favourite methods to take photos.
Tony and I used this photo on the homepage of one of our web design client's websites to depict Beacon Bay, on the top part of the homepage. A digital copy has also been bought by the local toursim industry and published in a glossy corporate magazine. I have also sold a print to a friend, via RedBubble, who printed it on canvas. It also forms the entire part of the page you see when you land on this page of one of our websites where I describe how to take photos into the sun if people want to read tips about being a little creative with their photography.
I hope that this Bonza Bay beach photo makes people want to come and visit East London in South Africa. Just over a mile away from the main Bonza Bay beach is the Nahoon River, which once crossed, leads to the beautiful Nahoon Beach, - it is at Nahoon beach every year in February that the East London Surfers Marathon coastal Challenge runners end their 16 km race along the coast (running past Bonza Bay beach along the way) - and a little further is Mermaid's Pool, as well as Footprints Cafe where one can enjoy coffee and a light meal, and also learn more about the history of the East London area and coastal parts by exploring the tiny and quaint little museum at Footprints Cafe, which houses a cast of the oldest human footprint fossil in the world, found in the area - every Thursday night in summer people can gather on the beach near Footprints cafe and enjoy watching a group of fire dancers, twirling poi, and dancing to the rythmic sounds of bongo drums, didgeridoo, and more.
