Instead of using those unhealthy salad dressings, why not make your own, make your own salad dressing with AVACADOS! As I was watching the Food Network show, host of the show was describing what the chef was doing and the camera person focused on the chef for a brief moment to be more exact about 2 seconds. Enough time for me to realize what the chef was doing and what a valid tip it was. She was making a salad dressing using the avacado! I was so excited when I saw this. Unfortunately I don't always get avacados that I can use right away, I have to leave them in brown paper bags for them to ripe properly. I am never too patient for this process. Anyway let's get down to the nitty gritty!!! Ingredients
1 avacado salt lime/lemon black pepper or pepper sauce Method Cut the avacado length wise, peel off the skin and cut the avacado into smaller pieces. Squeeze the juice of half a lime onto the avacado. When the inside of the avacado is exposed to the air for any length of time, it eventually gets discolored - black. The lime juice prevents the discoloration and also gives the avacado a nice flavor. Now I don't have a food processor so I use my potato masher to mash up the avacado. Then I use a fork and the back of a spoon to press out the remaining chunks of the avacado. I think the food processor would give this Avacado Salad Dressing a nice smooth consistency. I would have to invest in a food processor. Add the salt and black pepper. I like pepper sauce so I use that instead. Mix everything together. Add your vegetable(s) to make your salad.
